Mackinaw City hotels reach agreement with state over alleged deceptive practices
LANSING, MI — Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office announced that an agreement has been reached with several hotel properties in Mackinaw City that had been accused of deceptive reservation practices. An investigation into the hotels determined rooms advertised on tourism websites were actually unavailable at the time as they were closed, but the hotels accepted reservations regardless. The hotels were accused of then changing the reservations to another hotel without notice to the customer. Consumers complained the replacement rooms often did not have comparable amenities.
